PAIiIZ’s agreements with Chinese agencies to boost FDI inflows from China

2011-11-17

The Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) will next month sign collaboration agreements with two state institutions in China that are expected to significantly accelerate the inflow of Chinese direct investments into Poland, PAIiIZ chairman Slawomir Majman revealed in Rzeczpospolita.

The agreements with the China Development Bank and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), to be signed during President Bronislaw Komorowski’s December visit to Beijing, will lay foundations for joint efforts by PAIiIZ and its Chinese partners to identify and attract Chinese companies from key sectors to Poland.

The agreement with the NDRC identifies automotive, biotechnology, alternative energy, raw materials and energy sectors in Poland as targeted areas for investment by state-owned companies supervised by the Commission, and envisages investments worth €200m by this group of firms in Poland in 2013. When investments by private firms are taken into account the figure is likely to be higher.

The China Development Bank will provide financing support to Chinese firms seeking to invest in Poland, which will also be offered assistance from the PAIiIZ.
