New chief of financial regulator appointed

Prime Minister Donald Tusk has appointed Andrzej Jakubiak as the new chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission (KNF), the financial sector regulator. He replaces Stanislaw Kluza, whose five-year term expired on 29 September.

Mr. Jakubiak is a lawyer and former long-serving senior official at the central bank (from 1991 to 2006, including as member of its executive board between 1998 and 2006). In 2006 he joined the Warsaw city government as deputy mayor with responsibility for economic activity and real estate, a post he left to become the new KNF chief.
