Samsung to expand Warsaw R&D centre with 250 new engineers

Samsung plans to increase employment at its European research and development (R&D) centre in Warsaw by 30-40% within one to two years, S.P. Kim, CEO of Samsung Europe, said in an interview with Rzeczpospolita. The unit is expected to play a key role in the group’s efforts to stay on top of innovation in mobile technologies and solutions, he indicated.

The Warsaw centre has grown to become Samsung’s biggest R&D unit in Europe in the decade since its establishment in 2000. At present it employs 750 staff, and the planned expansion is to involve the hiring of 250-300 new engineers, bringing its total headcount to, or possibly above, the 1,000 mark.

The centre has three areas of expertise: home network solutions, digital television, and mobile software solutions.
