Stalowa Wola to create industrial park for energy-intensive activity

The authorities of Stalowa Wola (Podkarpackie voivodship) in September teamed up with energy group Tauron to create an industrial park for energy-intensive manufacturing activity, a project that according to mayor Andrzej Szlezak has the potential to jumpstart the area’s economic development.

The park will be meant chiefly for companies from sectors that rely on large volumes of industrial steam, such as building chemicals, foundry, metal processing, or fruit and vegetable-processing (Tauron is in the process of building a new gas and steam-fired block at a nearby power plant). In the initial phase, which is scheduled to be inaugurated by 2015, it will offer 10 investment sites on a total of 50 hectares of space, which is expected to lead to the creation of 500 jobs. During the second phase, to be completed by 2023, the park will be expanded to 25 sites and 214 hectares, with the potential to accommodate 1,200 jobs.
