ICTSI’s Gdynia container terminal embarks on PLN 153m, four-year capex programme

Baltycki Terminal Kontenerowy (BCT), the container terminal in Gdynia harbour owned by International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) of the Philippines, announced plans to invest over PLN 153m (approx. €34.2m) until 2015 in equipment, infrastructure and IT systems. As a result, its transshipment capacity will rise by about 60% to 1.2 million TEU over this period, from 750,000 TEU at the moment. Another objective is to increase the share of rail transport relative to road transport in BCT’s activities. The programme, the biggest such effort in the company’s history, will commence in 2012.

The project is 35% funded by the EU.

BCT is one of six biggest terminals among ICTSI’s 22 subsidiaries worldwide. It controls 27% of the Polish market for container transshipment services and employs 280 people.

ICTSI is a leading global operator and manager of ports and terminals. It operates in 13 countries on 5 continents.
