Wage growth quickens to 5.4% y-o-y in August


The average gross monthly wage in the enterprise sector amounted to just over PLN 3,591 (approx. €871) in August, i.e. 5.4% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported. The result was well ahead of market expectations, which averaged 4.9% y-o-y.

In the first eight months of 2011 the average wage went up by 5.1% y-o-y. We forecast that in the year as a whole the average gross monthly wage in the enterprise sector will rise by about 5-6% in nominal terms.
