Three special economic zones expanded to absorb PLN 6.6bn worth of new projects

The government on 13 September approved an expansion of three special economic zones (SSEs): the Walbrzych SSE, the Krakow SSE, and the Euro-Park Mielec SSE. The change will allow for the creation of nearly 22,000 new jobs, as part of investment projects worth a total of over PLN 6.6bn (approx. €1.5bn).

Some, though not all, of the newly incorporated sites have already been earmarked for specific investment projects.

The Walbrzych zone will undergo the biggest enlargement, gaining a net of almost 390 hectares of investment sites. The projects to be located there are worth an estimated PLN 4.6bn (€1.1bn) and are expected to create 11,000 new jobs directly and 2,200 outside the zone.

In the Krakow zone the figures are PLN 630m (€145m), and 2,300 jobs; and in Euro-Park Mielec PLN 1.4bn (€232m), 4,900 jobs directly and 1,000 outside the zone.
