Szczecin initiates PLN 100m tech park project

The authorities of Szczecin on 3 June inaugurated a PLN 100m (approx. €25.1m) project to create Technopark Pomerania, a complex of facilities for high-tech, IT and BPO firms designed to enhance the city’s attractiveness as a location for foreign investment. The park is scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2013.

The 11,000 m2 complex will consist of three buildings: an innovation centre for high-tech companies, a business incubator for IT start-ups, and a computer centre for companies specialised in data processing, analysis and storage solutions.

The project is financed in over 30% from EU funds and in more than 40% from municipal coffers. It is billed as Szczecin’s “Silicon Valley” that will foster investment and innovation.

In fact, the park already started operations in September 2010 at a converted former school building, which is home to 20 companies. It is expected that the new facility will host about 80 firms.
