LG Chem to enlarge Kobierzyce plant

LG Chem, a Korean maker of polymer batteries and optical and electronic materials, will expand its manufacturing facility in Kobierzyce (Dolnoslaskie voivodship), in the local sub-zone of the Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone (TSSE). The company pledged to invest PLN 36m (approx. €9.1m) in new capacity, which will bring 30 new jobs and safeguard 450 existing ones. As a result, its Kobierzyce plant, which at present makes LCD polarizers, will also produce plastic components for LCD cases.

LG Chem is one of a number of LG group companies which have invested in Kobierzyce. Three other firms, Dongseo Display, LG Electronics and LG Display, are also expanding or about to expand their operations there, Marek Indyk, head of the TSSE, told Puls Biznesu.
