Employment up by 4.1% y-o-y in March


Average monthly employment in the enterprise sector amounted to just under 5.51 million people in March, an increase of 4.1% in comparison with the corresponding period of 2010, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS). The consensus forecast was for a somewhat bigger growth, by 4.3% y-o-y.

On a month-on-month basis employment slipped by 0.1%.

During the analysed period there were approximately 4,100 fewer people in work compared with February. In the 12 months to March, average employment in the enterprise sector has risen by nearly 215,000.

In the January-March period average monthly employment in the enterprise sector grew by 4.1% y-o-y.
