Husqvarna inaugurates PLN 115m plant in Podkarpackie

Husqvarna, the Swedish maker of outdoor power products for gardens and parks, on 6 April officially inaugurated a factory of lawn mowers in Mielec (Podkarpackie voivodship), in the Euro-Park Mielec Special Economic Zone.

The 25,000 m2 facility, which was built at a cost of PLN 115m (approx. €29m) in less than 300 days, is described by the company as one of the most modern plants of this type in the world. Production got underway already in December, and in 2011 the factory is expected to put out 80,000 riding mowers and traditional push mowers. In 2012 output will double, lifting employment to 350 from 240 at the moment.

Magnus Yngen, Husqvarna President and CEO, said Mielec was selected due to good transport links and availability of skilled workers.
