Statoil to locate a BPO centre in Poland?

Statoil Fuel Retail (SFR), the retail division of the Norwegian energy company, plans to spend the lion’s share of its annual capex budget of NOK 1.3bn (approx. €165m) in Poland in the coming years, Jorn Madsen, SFR’s Executive Vice President Central and Eastern Europe, told Puls Biznesu.

The main focus will be on expanding its network of petrol stations, with Poland expected to account for the bulk of the approximately 30-40 stations to be opened by the company outside Scandinavia each year. However, SFR is also considering Poland as a candidate location for one of its new business process outsourcing (BPO) centres (the company has plans for an accounting centre, an IT service centre, and a human resources management centre). A final decision is expected to be taken in 2015.

At present Statoil has 310 petrol stations in Poland, which gives it fifth place.
