Business failures down by 12% y-o-y in January-February

A total of 98 companies were declared bankrupt by the courts in January-February, down by 12% compared with the same period a year ago, according to latest figures from Coface, the global provider of credit solutions. This was despite a 13% m-o-m rise in business failures in February, to 52. Bankruptcy statistics thus continue to improve, though they have yet to recover to pre-crisis levels. In the first two months of 2008 the figure was 50% lower, Coface said.
