Domino’s Pizza returns to Poland

Domino’s Pizza, the US pizza restaurant chain, is re-entering Poland, almost 10 years after the failure of its original push to build a nationwide chain in the country. The company has signed up a new franchise partner for the Polish market, and plans to open 27 stores in Poland over the next two years, including 12 in 2011, Rzeczpospolita has learnt. The first restaurant was opened on 1 March in Warsaw. Domino's Pizza will initially focus on the capital city, before expanding to other parts of the country.

Its new franchise partner is DP Polska, a company owned by the founders of Coffeeheaven, the chain of coffee bars.

Domino’s Pizza first entered Poland in the 1990’s. The aim was to open 100 stores, but when its local partner went bust in 2002 the network consisted of 16 restaurants.

Domino’s Pizza has more than 9,000 restaurants in 60 countries.
